SAMBA, JANUARY 07, 2026: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conducted an extensive district-level review meeting at the Samba conference hall today to evaluate the progress of ongoing developmental initiatives.
Joined by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and several cabinet ministers, the Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of time-bound project completion and the removal of administrative bottlenecks to ensure that the benefits of regional growth reach every household.
During the session, he specifically urged officers to maintain rigorous quality standards and improve public service delivery across all sectors.Focusing on economic empowerment, Chief Minister Abdullah highlighted the promotion of entrepreneurship under Mission YUVA and the strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to bolster the financial independence of women.
He directed the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, to fast-track projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) and maintain close coordination with elected representatives to address public grievances efficiently. The meeting also touched upon critical issues such as the regularization of daily wagers, hospital staff shortages, and the upgradation of educational infrastructure in remote areas.
Marking a tangible step forward for the district’s connectivity, the Chief Minister e-inaugurated projects worth ₹533 lakh, including two major link roads at Chak Slarian and Village Chak Nazir funded under NABARD.
Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for a ₹198.38 lakh footbridge over the Basanter River at Banab. Commending the district administration for its proactive performance during past crises, the Chief Minister assured that all genuine concerns raised by the local MLAs and DDC members would be addressed through a systematic and responsive governance framework.
