New Dedicated Parking Facility Inaugurated at Srinagar’s Old Secretariat
SRINAGAR, JANUARY 07, 2026: In a significant move to enhance administrative infrastructure and employee convenience, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, officially inaugurated a new dedicated parking facility at the Old Secretariat today.
Located within the Amar Niwas Complex, the facility is designed to serve the staff of multiple high-profile government departments.Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo and a cohort of senior officials—including the Assistant Commissioner Central and the Chief Planning Officer—the Divisional Commissioner highlighted that the area has been specifically earmarked to accommodate approximately 50 vehicles.
The project aims to streamline daily operations for personnel working at the Financial Commissioner’s Office, the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, all of whom previously faced significant logistical hurdles due to acute space constraints.
To ensure the long-term efficiency of the new space, Commissioner Garg issued immediate directives to local police to assist in organized traffic management within the lot.
Furthermore, he instructed the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to expedite the relocation of existing electric poles to optimize the usable area. This development is expected to significantly reduce congestion around the historic complex and provide a more structured environment for the region’s civil servants.
