JAMMU, Jan 7, 2026 — Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh, chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting today at the District Police Lines (DPL), attended by all Zonal SSPs, SDPOs, and SHOs.
During the session, the SSP lauded the force for a landmark 2025, which saw the registration of 4,134 FIRs—the lowest in five years—and the disposal of a record 5,122 cases.
This significant reduction in crime was attributed to proactive policing, strict bail contesting, and the effective use of detentions under the PSA and PIT-NDPS.
The meeting highlighted that 2025 marked the highest disposal rate in half a decade, reflecting a focused shift toward clearing backlogs while implementing new criminal laws.
The review emphasized a “Zero Tolerance” policy toward drug trafficking and organized crime, with Singh directing officers to maintain strict surveillance on released gangsters to ensure public safety.
Key discussions focused on the mandatory use of FSL services for scientific evidence collection under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the full implementation of citizen-centric features like Zero-FIRs and e-FIRs. With Republic Day 2026 approaching, the SSP issued specific instructions for real-time intelligence sharing, social media monitoring, and robust area domination.
He also stressed the importance of polite behavior toward the public and efficient traffic management during peak hours. The day concluded with a “Bada Khana” (mega feast) at DPL Jammu, organized to strengthen the bond and morale among the officers and jawans of the Jammu Police.
