DODA, Jan 6, 2026 — As security measures intensify across the region ahead of Republic Day, the Doda Police have tightened enforcement of safety protocols by registering an FIR against a local resident for failing to verify his tenant.
During a routine patrol in the Sadiq Abad area, police officials intercepted an individual from Assam, identified as Malek Ali, whose suspicious movements led authorities to his rented accommodation.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the landlord, Abdul Qayoom, had bypassed mandatory police verification procedures mandated by the District Magistrate’s standing orders. Consequently, a case has been registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Doda.
The action comes as part of a broader security drive spearheaded by SSP Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming national celebrations.
Local authorities, led by SHO Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, have been actively conducting awareness campaigns to sensitize the public on the legal necessity of tenant background checks.
Doda Police have issued a fresh appeal to all property owners to strictly adhere to these guidelines, warning that any negligence regarding tenant disclosure could compromise public safety and lead to strict legal consequences.
