Empowering Border Youth: Poonch College Students Meet President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan
NEW DELHI, January 06, 2026 — In a landmark moment for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir’s border regions, a group of college students from Poonch district had the prestigious opportunity to meet President of India, Draupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
This interaction served as the cornerstone of the National Integration Tour, a visionary initiative organized by the Indian Army’s Poonch Brigade under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division, White Knight Corps. The tour, which was flagged off from Poonch on January 3rd by Brigadier Sachindra Joshi, VSM, aims to bridge the gap between students from remote frontier areas and the nation’s central leadership, fostering a deeper sense of national pride and civic responsibility.
The visiting delegation consists of 22 students, including 13 boys and 9 girls, from Shri Krishan Chander Government Degree College, Poonch. During their stay in the national capital, the students also engaged in an insightful session with Lt. Gen. Bhavish Kumar, AVSM, VSM, GOC Delhi Area, who motivated them to become proactive contributors to India’s growth story.
The comprehensive itinerary is designed to immerse the students in India’s rich heritage and modern achievements, featuring visits to the National War Memorial, PM Sangrahalaya, and the National Museum, followed by a spiritual and historical journey to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh.
This tour underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to nation-building and its dedication to empowering the youth of border districts through exposure to the country’s cultural and institutional excellence.
