Fatal Road Accident in Kalaroos, Kupwara: Pedestrian Succumbs to Injuries After Being Hit by Vehicle

KUPWARA, January 06, 2026 — A tragic road accident in the Kalaroos area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has claimed the life of a local resident. According to official reports, the incident occurred when a load carrier (407 model), driven by Farooq Ahmad Khan, struck a pedestrian identified as Mohd Israiel Chechi, son of Laldin and a resident of Sarkuli.

The collision left the victim with critical injuries, prompting an immediate rescue effort by bystanders and authorities to ensure he received urgent medical attention.

The victim was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara for emergency treatment; however, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Police have officially taken cognizance of the case and have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the mishap.
