Doda Road Accident: 3 Hurt After Falling Rock Hits Passenger Vehicle in Kalotha

DODA, January 6, 2026 — A major accident was averted on Tuesday after a passenger matador was struck by a falling boulder near Kalotha in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, leaving three individuals injured.The vehicle, bearing registration number JK06A-9890, was navigating the mountainous stretch when “shooting stones” suddenly cascaded down the hillside.

One large rock directly impacted the matador, causing immediate injuries to three people on board.Local authorities confirmed that a police team was dispatched to the site immediately to coordinate the rescue. The victims were rushed to GMC Doda, where they are currently undergoing medical evaluation. Traffic in the area was briefly disrupted as police cleared the debris and assessed the stability of the slope.

Landslides and shooting stones are frequent hazards in this region, and officials have advised drivers to exercise extreme caution while traveling through landslide-prone zones during the winter months.
