UDHAMPUR, Dec 30: The District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) Udhampur successfully organized a district-level mela today, specifically designed to foster women entrepreneurship and support Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The event served as a strategic platform to motivate and guide local youth, with a particular focus on women, toward skill development and sustainable self-employment.
Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore Anand, who attended as the chief guest, emphasized the transformative power of skill-based empowerment. He encouraged the participants to actively utilize the resources available under Mission YUVA to secure economic independence and contribute to the region’s growth.A key feature of the mela was a vibrant sale-cum-exhibition that showcased the diverse products and innovative initiatives of local women entrepreneurs and SHG members.
More than 300 participants displayed their work at various stalls, which were personally inspected by the chief guest. During his interaction with the exhibitors, the ADDC lauded their dedication to financial empowerment and praised the high quality of the entrepreneurial ventures on display.
The exhibition not only provided a marketplace for these products but also highlighted the growing strength of women-led small businesses in the Udhampur district.The successful execution of the mela was carried out under the leadership of Deputy Director Employment Mohinder Sharma and Assistant Director Employment Priyanka Gupta. Members of the Skill Development and Business Unit (SBDU) played a pivotal role in organizing the logistics and ensuring the smooth flow of the program.
By bridging the gap between government initiatives and aspiring entrepreneurs, the DECC Udhampur continues to reinforce the government’s commitment to building a self-reliant workforce through community-driven economic events.
