Jammu Police and BSF Arrest Two for Brandishing Firearm; Pistol and Magazines Recovered

JAMMU, DECEMBER 28: In a swift joint operation, the Jammu South Zone Police and the 13 BN BSF apprehended two individuals for openly brandishing a firearm in a public area, an act that triggered widespread panic and insecurity among local residents.

Acting on precise intelligence, the team from Satwari Police Station intercepted the suspects who were reportedly moving freely within the jurisdiction while exhibiting a weapon. The accused, identified as Manzoor Hussain and Suraj, both residents of Badhori in Samba district, were promptly detained to prevent any further escalation or threat to public order.

The specialized joint team conducted a thorough search following the apprehension, leading to the recovery of one actual pistol along with two magazines. Interestingly, investigators also recovered a pistol-shaped toy, which the duo allegedly used in tandem with the real firearm to intimidate bystanders and create a climate of fear.

Following the recovery of the weapons, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 249/2025 at the Satwari Police Station, invoking Section 3/25 of the Arms Act.Police officials emphasized that the unauthorized possession and blatant display of firearms in public spaces pose a severe risk to community safety and will be met with the strictest legal consequences.

The successful coordination between the Jammu Police and the BSF has been lauded for preventing potential violence and restoring a sense of security in the area. Further investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the recovered firearm and whether the suspects are linked to any larger criminal networks or recent incidents in the region.
