POONCH, December 27, 2025 — Continuing its aggressive crackdown on the illegal narcotics trade under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, the District Police Poonch successfully apprehended an individual in possession of prohibited pharmaceutical drugs at Jogi Morh.
The operation was carried out by a dedicated team from Police Station Surankote during a high-alert “naka” (checkpoint) established to intercept the movement of illicit substances within the district.
During the intensified checking and frisking process, police personnel intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Ikhlaq Ahmed, son of Nisar Ahmed and a resident of Lassana, Tehsil Surankote. Upon conducting a thorough personal search, the police recovered seven strips of Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets. These controlled substances, often misused for addiction, were seized on the spot, and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 300/2025 at Police Station Surankote, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Investigating officers have launched a detailed probe to trace the supply chain and identify potential linkages involved in the distribution of these contraband tablets. Reaffirming its “Zero Tolerance” policy toward drug abuse, the District Police Poonch has urged citizens to support the force by sharing credible information to help eradicate the drug menace from society.
