UDHAMPUR, December 27, 2025 — In an ongoing war against drug trafficking, the Udhampur Police achieved a significant legal milestone by securing the conviction of an inter-state drug peddler within just two months of his arrest.
The case, registered under FIR No. 110/2025 at Police Station Chenani, highlights the department’s commitment to fast-tracking justice in narcotics-related offenses.
The matter dates back to November 2, 2025, when a vigilant naka police team stationed at the Motorshed checking point intercepted Sata Masih, a resident of Batala, Gurdaspur, Punjab. During the search, Masih was found in possession of a quantity of poppy straw, leading to his immediate apprehension and the registration of a case under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act.
The investigation, led by PSI Priyambhna Sharma, was characterized by exceptional speed and adherence to legal protocols. By ensuring that all evidentiary formalities and the subsequent charge-sheet were filed before the court without delay, the investigative team paved the way for a rapid trial.
Consequently, the Hon’ble Principal Sessions Court, Udhampur, found the accused guilty, sentencing him under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and imposing a fine of ₹12,000. This swift conviction serves as a stern warning to those involved in the illicit drug trade across state borders.
