ANANTNAG, December 26, 2025: In a decisive strike against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir apprehended an employee of the Rural Development Department (RDD) on Friday for accepting a bribe. The arrest took place within the high-security premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Anantnag, South Kashmir.
According to ACB officials, the accused, who was serving as a helper, had allegedly demanded a sum of ₹4,000 from a complainant in exchange for processing official paperwork.Following a formal complaint and thorough internal verification, the ACB organized a meticulous trap operation. The team moved into the DC office complex and caught the official red-handed at the exact moment he was receiving the illicit payment.
The tainted money was immediately recovered from his possession, and the suspect was taken into custody on the spot.A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Investigators are now conducting a broader probe to determine if this was an isolated incident or if other officials within the department were part of a larger extortion network.
The ACB has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding bribery and has urged citizens to report any such demands from public servants without hesitation.
