NEW DELHI, December 26, 2025: A Delhi court on Friday granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) extended custody of two primary accused in the high-profile Red Fort blast case. Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma authorized the probe agency to interrogate Yasir Ahmed Dar for an additional ten days, while the second accused, Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla, will remain in NIA custody for eight more days.
The court proceedings were held under strict security, with media personnel barred from covering the session to maintain the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation.According to the NIA’s findings, the November 10 terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 15 people, was allegedly masterminded by Umar-un-Nabi, the individual who drove the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated outside the historic monument.
The agency arrested Dr. Malla in Delhi on December 9, labeling him a central figure in the conspiracy. Investigators allege that Malla knowingly provided logistical support and harbored the main attacker, in addition to being accused of destroying crucial evidence following the blast. The arrest of Yasir Ahmed Dar on December 18 marked the ninth apprehension in this complex case.
A resident of Jammu and Kashmir, Dar is identified as a close associate of the alleged planner, Umar-un-Nabi. To date, the NIA has arrested a total of nine individuals, including Dr. Muzammil Ganaie, Dr. Adeel Rather, and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, as it works to dismantle the network behind the deadly explosion. The extended custody is expected to help the agency uncover deeper links and potential international connections associated with the terror cell.
