Samba Police Arrest Drug Peddler; 9.86 Grams of Heroin Seized in Highway Crackdown
SAMBA, December 26, 2025: In a major success under its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, the Samba Police apprehended a drug peddler today and recovered approximately 9.86 grams of a heroin-like substance (locally known as chitta).
Following a tip-off from reliable sources, a specialized team from the Samba Police Station established a vehicular checking point (Naka) near Bhargav Degree College. During the operation, officers intercepted a motorcycle (registration No. JK02CW-3550) traveling from the Vijaypur side. A thorough search of the rider led to the discovery of the illegal contraband concealed in his possession.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohd Sharif, son of Mohd Yousaf, originally a resident of Narsoo Samroli in Udhampur district and currently residing in Miran Sahib, Jammu. Alongside the recovery of the heroin-like substance, the police have officially seized the motorcycle used in the commission of the crime.
Legal proceedings have been initiated with the registration of FIR No. 311/2025 at Police Station Samba under sections 8, 21, 22, and 25 of the NDPS Act. Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the source of the drugs and identify any broader networks involved in the local narcotics trade.
This arrest marks another step in the Samba Police’s rigorous drive to eradicate drug smuggling from the district.
