Kathua Police Attach Crores Worth Property of Notorious Drug Peddler in Billawar
KATHUA, June 9, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Police attached an immovable property valued at approximately 1.10 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the Ramkot area of Billawar, Kathua district.
The attached asset, a double-story residential house owned by drug peddler Mohd Arif, was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigators identified the property as illegally acquired during the course of their investigation, establishing that the asset was prime facie generated through the proceeds of illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The entire operation was executed under the directions of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, along with the SP Operations for Upper Kathua, SDPO Billawar, SHO Billawar, and the In-Charge of Police Post Ramkot. In the presence of Revenue Department officials, the joint team formally attached the residential building under Sections 68 A.2 (c) and E, read with 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985. Records indicate that Mohd Arif has been a habitual offender involved in multiple narcotics cases across various police stations in the Union Territory, including FIRs registered at Billawar, Vijaypur, Nagrota, and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force in Jammu, alongside a previous booking under the PITNDPS Act in 2024.
Local residents welcomed the stern administrative action against the assets of drug peddlers in the region. Reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free district, the Kathua Police stated that the sustained crackdown will continue to target both active narcotics smuggling networks and the financial assets accumulated by drug offenders.
