Himachal Pradesh and Norway Discuss Collaboration on Green Energy and Waste Management

SHIMLA, June 9, 2026 — Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held a high-level meeting today with Norway Ambassador to India May-Elin Stainer to explore strategic partnership opportunities.

The bilateral discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across several key sectors, including construction and demolition waste management, circular economy practices, sustainable tourism, climate-resilient urban development, renewable energy, digital governance, and smart city initiatives.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that Himachal Pradesh aims to leverage the specialized expertise and advanced technologies of Norway to improve the management and recycling of construction and demolition debris across the state.

Furthermore, he extended an invitation to Norwegian enterprises to invest in the region’s rapidly growing tourism, green energy, and geothermal energy sectors.

The prominent diplomatic session was also attended by Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Mayor Surender Chauhan, Chief Secretary KK Pant, and other senior administrative dignitaries.
