Jitendra Singh Announces MPLAD Funded ICU Ambulance and Commends Indian Army Rescue Efforts in Udhampur

Udhampur, April 21: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh visited Government Medical College Udhampur today to assess the medical care being provided to victims of the recent bus accident near Ramnagar. Accompanied by local legislators and district officials, the Minister visited the ICU and orthopedic wards to interact with patients and ensure they are receiving comprehensive support.

During his visit, Dr. Singh highlighed the heroic role of the Indian Army, noting that military personnel acted as the first responders and reached the accident site within minutes to launch rescue operations. He praised the seamless coordination between the Army, the district administration, and the medical fraternity, which allowed for the swift evacuation of the injured and the deployment of a rescue helicopter within thirty minutes of the mishap.

While providing updates on the victims, Dr. Singh confirmed that while two patients were moved to Jammu for advanced care, the majority of those at GMC Udhampur remain in stable condition. He noted that the Army’s Command Hospital is providing specialized neurological support, including MRI scans for those in need.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s concern for the region and the announcement of ex-gratia relief, the Minister also declared that a state-of-the-art critical care ICU ambulance will be provided to the district through his MPLAD fund.

This new medical resource will be managed in coordination with GMC Udhampur to ensure that patients requiring emergency transit receive life-saving treatment while en route to specialized facilities.
