Jammu and Kashmir weather update forecasts dry days followed by rain and flash flood warning
SRINAGAR, June 7, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather forecast and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a shift from hot, dry conditions to active rainfall and potential environmental hazards over the coming week.
According to meteorologists, the region will experience generally hot and dry weather from June 7 to June 10, though brief afternoon showers at isolated places cannot be entirely ruled out.A significant change in weather patterns is expected between June 11 and June 14, as conditions turn partly to generally cloudy.
During this four-day period, scattered to many places across the union territory are likely to experience light rain, brief intense showers, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds.
In light of these predictions, the weather department has issued a safety advisory warning of thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 60 kilometers per hour, alongside brief intense showers in isolated to scattered areas from June 11 to June 14.
Furthermore, authorities have cautioned that these brief intense spells of rain in isolated pockets of both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions could trigger localized flash floods and mudslides, urging residents and travelers to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
