Indian Army Soldier Saves Multiple Lives Through Organ Donation Mission

PUNE, MAY 6, 2026A serving soldier at the Command Hospital Southern Command in Pune has provided a life-saving gift to others through a meticulously planned multi-organ donation mission.

Following the soldier’s final act of duty, medical teams at the hospital performed the organ retrieval with high precision and clinical excellence.

The process was carried out under strict established protocols to ensure the successful preservation and transfer of the organs.The mission required seamless coordination between the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and civil authorities to execute a rapid transport plan.

A liver and one kidney were transported via a coordinated green corridor and airlifted to the Army Hospital Research and Referral in Delhi. Simultaneously, a second kidney was successfully transplanted into a recipient at the Command Hospital in Pune.

This operation highlights the advanced transplant capabilities of military medical facilities and stands as a significant example of inter-agency synergy and humanitarian service.
