High-level meeting held to finalize arrangements for Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026

JAMMU, APRIL 28, 2026:-Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti led a high-level meeting today to evaluate preparations for the 2026 Amarnathji Yatra.

The session brought together senior representatives from the police, paramilitary forces, and various government departments to synchronize efforts for the annual pilgrimage.

Key discussions focused on establishing registration counters and RFID centers at Lakhanpur and Bhagwati Nagar, where pilgrims will complete e-KYC procedures before heading toward the holy cave.

A significant update for this year includes the establishment of token centers for on-the-spot registration at the Tawi River Front. This move is designed to reduce congestion and long queues typically found near the railway station.

Kumar instructed officials to ensure that these new centers are equipped with adequate drinking water, sanitation facilities, and langar services.

Meanwhile, repair and renovation work at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp has commenced, with a strict deadline of June 10, 2026, for the completion of all infrastructure upgrades, including lighting, accommodation, and ticket booking stalls.

Security and safety remain a top priority, with the Inspector General of Police emphasizing the need for proper illumination at all lodgment centers and strict adherence to travel cutoff timings.

The Fire and Emergency Services department has been tasked with conducting thorough fire safety audits, while the Public Works Department will handle road blacktopping around the base camp.

To ensure a comfortable stay, the Cooperative Department will set up convenience stores, and telecommunication providers will offer prepaid SIM cards and connectivity support for the arriving devotees.

The administration is also focusing on the transit experience across Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, and Ramban districts. Deputy Commissioners have been directed to monitor civic amenities and CCTV coverage at all transit lodgment centers.

Additionally, the Transport Department will implement measures to prevent overcharging by public transport operators.

To encourage regional tourism, the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation will provide dedicated buses for pilgrims wishing to visit local sightseeing destinations during their journey.
