Holy Buddha Relics arrive in Ladakh for historic exposition

LEH, April 29, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena received the Holy Relics of Tathagata Buddha upon their arrival in Leh today. The sacred relics were welcomed with deep reverence, traditional honors, and prayers led by venerable Rinpoches and monks.

As part of the official reception, the Ladakh Police provided a ceremonial Guard of Honour to mark the significance of the event.

During the ceremony, Saxena offered khataks and prayers on behalf of the people of Ladakh to invoke peace and well-being for all. This event marks a rare and historic milestone, as it is the first time these specific relics have been moved from their original place of preservation for an exposition within India.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of this spiritual journey and its impact on the local community.Saxena expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for selecting Ladakh as the site for this sacred exposition.

He noted that the decision reaffirms the region’s profound and long-standing connection with Buddhism and spirituality. The exposition serves as a significant recognition of Ladakh’s cultural heritage and its role as a center for Buddhist teachings.

The Lieutenant Governor encouraged devotees and visitors to participate in the exposition in large numbers. He emphasized that seeking the blessings of Buddha provides an opportunity to spread messages of brotherhood and global peace.

The relics will remain available for public viewing as part of the ongoing spiritual celebrations in the region.
