Australian High Commissioner Meets CM Omar Abdullah to Discuss Agriculture and Horticulture Cooperation

SRINAGAR, April 24, 2026 — The Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today to explore potential areas of collaboration between Australia and the Union Territory.

The meeting focused primarily on enhancing cooperation within the agriculture and allied sectors, with a specific emphasis on horticulture and animal husbandry. Both leaders discussed the importance of knowledge sharing and the adoption of modern international best practices to boost local productivity and ensure long-term sustainability for farmers in the region.

The discussions also highlighted the potential for establishing institutional linkages and technical cooperation to support ongoing developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
