Assam Rifles and Cachar Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth One Crore
CACHAR, May 4 — In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles and the Cachar Police conducted a successful joint operation near Jirighat .
Acting on specific intelligence, the security teams intercepted a shipment of 10,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of approximately 1 crore. The operation was carried out in close coordination with the ARFIU to disrupt the flow of illegal drugs through the region.
During the enforcement action, security personnel apprehended two individuals suspected of being involved in the smuggling network.
Along with the large haul of contraband, authorities seized two mobile phones found in the possession of the suspects, which may contain critical evidence regarding the trafficking route. This recovery marks a significant achievement for law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in Assam.
Following the seizure, both the apprehended individuals and the recovered items were formally handed over to the Cachar Police. A case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to identify further links in the distribution chain.
Officials stated that such coordinated operations will continue to ensure the safety and security of the community from the threat of narcotics.
