Kishtwar, August 14, 2025 – A tragic cloud burst hit Chishoti area in Paddar subdivision this morning, causing enormous flash floods and landslides that have inflicted heavy damage on property . The Kishtwar district administration has set in motion relief operations, with Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS) taking charge himself at the site of the tragedy.After getting the information regarding the tragedy, DC Kishtwar immediately mobilized the disaster relief teams in conjunction with SSP Kishtwar, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local authorities. “Our top priority is relief and rescue. Medical teams and emergency material have been sent,” said Sharma. The Jammu and Kashmir Red Cross has organized an on-ground presence with basic relief, such as food, blankets, and first-aid kits.The Incident immediately caught the attention of the top brass, with Union Minister Dr. Jatindra Singh confirming he personally spoke to DC Kishtwar after being informed by Jammu and Kashmir’s Leader of Opposition and local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma. “Preliminary reports indicate extensive damage in Chishoti. The administration is leaving no stone unturned—rescue teams are on their way and damage assessment is in progress,” Singh tweeted, assuring central help. Though the official casualty numbers are yet to be confirmed, locals say several houses and roads were swept away.
