JMC Strengthens citywide street light repair campaign through Ward-level complaint registration camps

Jammu,13th August:- In a decisive step towards improving civic amenities and ensuring public safety, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified its special campaign for repairing and maintaining street lights across Jammu city.

The initiative, launched by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, with the aim to ensure that every lane, street, and public space remains well-lit, thereby enhancing security for residents and facilitating smoother movement after dark.Under this campaign, daily ward-level complaint registration camps are being organized to make the process of reporting faulty street lights more accessible to the public.

The approach ensures that no area is left unattended and that every citizen has an opportunity to directly interact with JMC officials to highlight issues in their locality. In addition to physical camps, residents can lodge complaints through the JMC online portal, ensuring convenience for those unable to visit the camps in person.

Since the beginning of the drive, a total of 1,300 complaints have been registered, reflecting strong public participation. JMC’s electrical engineering teams have already commenced on-site repair work, with priority being given to high-traffic zones, school areas, marketplaces, and residential neighbourhoods where lighting is crucial for safety and daily activities.Today’s camp covered a wide range of locations, including Ward Numbers 26, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 60, 62, and 66, as well as Subhash Nagar, Harijan Colony, Old Jaipur, Indira Colony, Lakkad Mandi, Disco Road, Pamposh Colony, Jaipur Colony, Paloura, Lakshmipuram, Butta Nagar Paloura, and Toph Sherkhaniya. At each of these locations, JMC officials were present to assist residents in registering complaints quickly and without procedural delays.

Speaking about the importance of the initiative, Dr. Devansh Yadav said,“Street lighting is not merely a utility—it is a necessity for ensuring public safety, supporting local commerce, and improving the overall quality of life in our city. Well-lit streets help prevent accidents, deter anti-social activities, and create a sense of security among residents. Our teams are committed to addressing all registered complaints promptly, ensuring no street is left in darkness. This campaign is a testament to JMC’s focus on transparency, efficiency, and citizen-oriented governance.”Dr. Yadav further urged citizens to take full advantage of the facility by reporting malfunctioning of lights either through the ward camps or the online portal. He emphasized that community participation is essential for the campaign’s success, as timely complaint reporting helps JMC prioritize and resolve issues faster.The JMC Street Light Repair Campaign is part of a broader effort to modernize and maintain civic infrastructure in Jammu. Alongside repairs, JMC is also exploring the installation of energy-efficient LED lights in select areas to enhance illumination while reducing electricity costs.With continuous monitoring, dedicated teams, and strong public cooperation, JMC aims to ensure that Jammu’s streets remain bright, safe, and welcoming for all.
