Jammu Power Outage Schedule Announced: Essential Electricity Maintenance to Affect Several Districts Between August 9 and 12
JAMMU, AUGUST 08, 2026 — Electricity consumers across various regions of Jammu division, including key commercial hubs, residential colonies, and emergency healthcare facilities, should prepare for temporary power disruptions over the coming days. The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has scheduled essential maintenance, system upgrades, and routine operational repairs to ensure long-term network reliability. According to separate official communications issued by the Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL Jammu and the Superintending Engineer (O&M Circle) JPDCL Kishtwar, the maintenance work will cause phased shutdowns starting Sunday, August 09, through Wednesday, August 12.
The first major wave of power cuts will begin on Sunday, August 09, directly impacting both urban centers and surrounding administrative districts. Early morning outages in Jammu urban will start from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in Kanhal and Industry-2. Residents and commercial establishments in the high-density market areas of Pacca Danga, Parade Bazar, Link Road, Purani Mandi, and nearby neighborhoods will experience a outage between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Meanwhile, a broader five-hour shutdown from 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon will affect Bakshi Nagar, Rehari, Sarwal, and critical healthcare clusters including Bone Hospital, Super Specialty Hospital (SSH), Joint Cancer Hospital, and surrounding sectors.
In addition to central Jammu, major suburban residential pockets and entire outlying districts will face extended power loss on August 09. Electricity to Sainik Colony, Chowadhi, Birpur, Data Talab, the Ratnuchak line, and MES Kaluchak will be suspended from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Beyond Jammu city, regional power grids will undergo extensive work: Rajouri City, Thanamandi, BGSB University, Kheora, Darhal, Manjakote, Jawahar Nagar, and Shahdara Sharif will remain without electricity from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The entirety of District Poonch is slated for a five-hour supply suspension from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while in Kishtwar’s Thathri belt, Nayi Basti, near the PDD Office, Mandan Chitter, Main Market Thathri, Mandir Mohalla, and the Local Hospital will experience disruptions between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
The scheduled infrastructure maintenance will resume after a brief pause on Tuesday, August 11, focusing primarily on peripheral towns, rural belts, and industrial connections. Consumers in Jib, Thati, Kambal Denga, Kalta, Barolla, and neighboring feeder zones should prepare for a nine-hour disruption lasting from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In the upper reaches of Sangaldan, Gool, Thetharka, and Dharam, electricity will remain switched off between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Further shutdowns on August 11 include Chenani, Kud, Sudh Mahadev, Latti, Dhuna, and adjoining villages from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, alongside Samba town and PHE Diani from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The planned maintenance drive will wrap up on Wednesday, August 12, with a five-hour cut from 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon affecting Old Vijaypur, the Vijaypur Industrial Area, and nearby locations. Residents and local enterprises across all designated zones are advised to plan their electrical usage, water storage, and daily routine activities around these announced timings.
