MVD Ramban Intensifies Traffic Drive in Gool-Sangaldan: 42 Vehicles E-Challaned for Motor Act Violations
RAMBAN, AUGUST 07, 2026: In an effort to enhance road safety and enforce strict compliance with traffic regulations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) executed a comprehensive enforcement drive across the Gool subdivision in Ramban district today. Acting on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner and under the guidance of the SSP, an MVD team led by ARTO Varun Bhasin conducted surprise inspections across several key locations, including Permote, Hadog, Sangaldan, Gool, Deeda, and Tatapani. During the high-intensity operation, officials inspected a total of 127 vehicles, resulting in 42 e-challans issued for various offenses under the Motor Vehicles Act, such as overcharging passengers, vehicle overloading, operating without valid route permits or fitness certificates, and unauthorized vehicle alterations.
The enforcement operation led to severe penalties for chronic and high-risk traffic offenders, with the estimated value of the issued e-challans reaching approximately ₹72,800. Additionally, officers seized four vehicles on the spot due to serious documentation and compliance breaches, while recommending seven driving licenses for formal suspension. Parallel to the enforcement efforts, the MVD team engaged with local citizens to listen to public grievances regarding transport services, resolving several immediate traffic issues directly on site. The team emphasized public awareness by educating commuters and drivers on essential road safety norms, noting larger transport concerns to be escalated to higher authorities for long-term resolution.
