India condemns attack on commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off Oman coast; 10 citizens rescued, one Indian missing

NEW DELHI — JULY 12, 2026: India has strongly condemned an attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman today, which left one Indian national missing while 10 others were successfully rescued. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Oman is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities on the ongoing search and rescue operation.

Expressing deep concern over recurring attacks on commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure in the region, New Delhi called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions and a swift diplomatic resolution to restore peace. The Ministry emphasized that the targeting of commercial vessels must end, urging the immediate restoration of free, unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways in full compliance with international law.
