J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah meets tourism and business stakeholders to boost economic growth

SRINAGAR, Jul 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with various delegations representing the travel, tourism, and business sectors at the Civil Secretariat to discuss tourism promotion, business facilitation, and the overall growth of the economy in Jammu and Kashmir.

A delegation of leading travel and tourism associations, including Irshad Ahmad from TAAI, SKÅL International Kashmir President Zahoor Qari, Travel Agents Federation of India Chairman Burhan Misgar, and TASK President Waseem Goosani, briefed the Chief Minister on various matters impacting their industry.The representatives highlighted key issues concerning the tourism sector, including steps needed to boost tourist inflows, improve ease of travel, and sustain tourism momentum across the region.

They also shared several suggestions aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and strengthening the position of Jammu and Kashmir as a preferred destination for travelers.The Chief Minister listened to the delegation and reiterated the commitment of the government to creating an enabling environment for the tourism sector, acknowledging it as a primary driver of employment and economic growth.

He assured the stakeholders that their concerns would be examined sympathetically and addressed in a time-bound manner through coordination with respective departments.

Later in the day, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Tariq Ghani also met with the Chief Minister to discuss a range of issues pertaining to local business, trade, and tourism.
