Assam Rifles and Cachar Police Seize Contraband Codeine Phosphate in Assam

CACHAR, ASSAM July 04,2026 — In a well-coordinated joint operation, Assam Rifles and Cachar Police intercepted a major consignment of contraband near the general area of Gossaipur on the National Highway at Udharbond Junction in Cachar, Assam, during the early hours of July 2, 2026.

Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team intercepted an auto-rickshaw and recovered 2,500 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in 21 boxes. The recovered contraband is valued at approximately 7.25 lakh rupees.

Two individuals, Rebul Uddin, 32, and Salim Uddin, 55, both residents of Latigram in Cachar, were apprehended at the scene. The seized contraband, the vehicle, and the accused individuals have been handed over to the Cachar Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
