Om Shiv Shakti Sewa Mandal Delhi Cheeka Langar offers free services to Amarnath pilgrims

Srinagar July 02,2026 :- As the annual Amarnath Yatra commenced on Thursday, the Cheeka Langar set up by Om Shiv Shakti Sewa Mandal, Delhi, began serving thousands of pilgrims with free food and essential facilities along the pilgrimage route.

The langar, run by volunteers of the sewa mandal, is providing freshly prepared meals, drinking water, tea, medical assistance and resting facilities for devotees undertaking the pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine in south Kashmir.

Volunteers said the arrangements have been made to ensure pilgrims receive round-the-clock support during the yatra, with special attention given to elderly devotees and those requiring medical assistance.Apart from serving meals, the langar is also assisting pilgrims with basic necessities and guidance to help them continue their journey comfortably.

The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine began on Thursday amid multi-layered security arrangements, with the first batch of pilgrims leaving the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu and reaching Kashmir during the day.Every year, several religious and social organisations establish community kitchens, or langars, along the yatra route to provide free food, shelter and other services to pilgrims as part of voluntary service.
