Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination campaign flagged off in Doda under national program

DODA, July 2, 2026 — The Animal Husbandry Department Doda launched Round VIII of the Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination campaign under the National Animal Disease Control Programme today. The district-wide vaccination drive will be carried out from July 2 to August 15, 2026, to protect livestock from Foot and Mouth Disease and strengthen animal health across the region.

The campaign was officially flagged off by Doda Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, who emphasized that timely vaccination prevents the spread of infectious animal diseases, improves livestock productivity, and safeguards the livelihoods of livestock-rearing families. He also urged livestock owners to extend full cooperation to the field teams to ensure maximum coverage during the campaign.

The department has deployed dedicated vaccination teams across the district to provide door-to-door vaccination and achieve comprehensive immunization of susceptible livestock under the national program.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Doda Irfan Ali Wani, Superintendent DVH Doda Tariq Hussain, veterinary doctors, para-veterinary staff, and various officials of the Animal Husbandry Department were present at the flag-off ceremony to support the launch.
