Disaster management mock exercise conducted at Veer Savarkar International Airport
SRI VIJAYA PURAM, July 2, 2026 — A multi-agency disaster management mock exercise was conducted at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Sri Vijaya Puram in accordance with the directives of the National Disaster Management Authority.
The exercise simulated an earthquake-triggered building collapse and a subsequent fire outbreak to test emergency response protocols.A total of 221 personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force, Airports Authority of India, National Disaster Response Force, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, State Fire Services, State Police, airlines, and medical teams participated in the drill.
The participants demonstrated prompt response, seamless coordination, and high operational readiness during the simulation. Regular mock exercises are designed to strengthen emergency preparedness, validate response mechanisms, and enhance inter-agency coordination to ensure a swift and effective response during real-life emergencies.
