LG Manoj Sinha Advocates for Nation-Building Through Cultural Heritage in Jammu

JAMMU, APRIL 09: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the musical opera ‘Mata Sukrala Ki Kahani’ at Abhinav Theatre today, where he emphasized that nation-building is fundamentally rooted in a shared mindset rather than just physical infrastructure.

Addressing a large gathering, Manoj Sinha asserted that a strong nation is built on the integrity of its citizens, common values, and mutual trust. He urged the youth to transition from self-interest to community service, noting that true nationhood is ignited when individuals prioritize the collective good.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that cultural heritage serves as a powerful societal resource and the backbone of society, shaping the thinking, actions, and beliefs of its people.

During the event, organized by the Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan and the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL), Manoj Sinha remarked that the greatest challenge today is the misconception that nation-building is solely the responsibility of the government.

He called it a collective duty, warning that public indifference can undermine even the strongest systems. He encouraged the younger generation to reconnect with their cultural roots, stating that humanity loses its power when severed from its heritage.

By revitalizing traditions like the Duggar culture through art, he noted, the region is investing in a future where the youth lead with a strong moral and cultural compass.

The musical opera, which depicted the legend of Mata Sukrala Devi, served as a platform to celebrate the timeless wisdom of elder generations. Manoj Sinha observed that India’s diverse traditions, held together by mutual respect, form the essence of national unity.

The event saw participation from several prominent figures, including M L Dogra, Chairman and Founder of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan; Vijay Kumar Magotra, Managing Director of the Sansthan; and Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary of Culture.Also in attendance were Legislative Assembly members Yudhvir Sethi, Satish Kumar Sharma, and Devyani Rana.

Other notable guests included S P Varma, Vishwamurti Shastri, Balwant Thakur, and Ashok Bhan, the former Director General of Police, alongside various senior officials and citizens who gathered to witness the cultural performance.
