KISHTWAR — February 09, 2026:- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, conducted a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) on Monday to evaluate the prevailing safety landscape and investigative progress across the district.
Bringing together officers from the Kishtwar, Chatroo, Atholi, and Marwah sub-divisions, the session served as a strategic audit of compliance with previous directives and a forward-looking exercise to ensure preparedness for upcoming regional events.
The SSP emphasized that maintaining a robust field presence and strictly adhering to law-and-order protocols are non-negotiable pillars for ensuring lasting peace in the district.
A primary focus of the meeting was the intensification of specialized enforcement drives, specifically targeting narcotics trafficking and the illegal transportation of bovines.
SSP Singh issued clear mandates to accelerate the disposal of pending investigations and improve case registration timelines to ensure swift justice. To counter potential security threats, particularly in sensitive sectors like Chatroo and Marwah, the SSP directed a heightening of the counter-militancy strategy through proactive cordon-and-search operations (CASOs), enhanced night patrols, and seamless coordination with the Army and CRPF.
Furthermore, the district’s technological and ground-level surveillance mechanisms are set for an upgrade, with directives to bolster Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and expand CCTV coverage in high-risk zones. The “Beat System” was also prioritized, with officers instructed to maintain updated beat books and foster community engagement to generate real-time intelligence.
The meeting, attended by senior officials including Additional SP Pardeep Singh Goria and various SDPOs and SHOs, concluded with a call for extra vigilance in border areas and vulnerable pockets to pre-empt any attempts by anti-national elements to disrupt the peace.
