PURKAZI — February 09, 2026:-Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, conducted a high-level visit to the Combat Engineering Training Camp of the Strike One Sappers at the Purkazi Training Area today.
Situated along the banks of the River Ganges, the visit focused on evaluating the integration of modern technology into traditional combat roles.
The Army Commander oversaw a series of complex combat engineering tasks, including high-speed bridging and rafting operations, which are critical for ensuring mobility and rapid deployment in diverse tactical environments.
The demonstration highlighted the Indian Army’s shift toward “Next-Gen” warfare, featuring the use of new-generation equipment, surveillance drones, and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). Special emphasis was placed on innovative mine warfare solutions designed to enhance troop safety and operational speed.
During his interaction with the personnel, Lt Gen Sharma lauded the Strike One Sappers for their exceptional standards of professionalism and operational preparedness.
He specifically commended their sustained focus on rapid technology absorption, noting that the seamless blending of unmanned systems with engineering expertise is vital for maintaining a decisive edge in modern conflict.
