Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026: LG Manoj Sinha Reviews Pilgrim Facilities at Chandanwari Base Camp

SRINAGAR, JULY 05 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Chandanwari today to review the ground situation and inspect pilgrim facilities at the camp, ensuring a seamless execution of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. During his extensive assessment, the Lieutenant Governor directly interacted with administrative officials, pilgrims, volunteers, langar sevadars, and other essential service providers. He instructed the Yatra management teams to actively examine pilgrim feedback and remain available for round-the-clock support to address any operational challenges. Emphasizing a unified administrative effort, the Lieutenant Governor stated that through a seamless, whole-of-government approach, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to provide excellent food and lodging to the devotees of Lord Shiva, ensuring every Yatri experiences a blissful darshan and a profoundly enriching spiritual journey.

As part of the operational review, the Lieutenant Governor inspected the 100-bed Base Hospital at Chandanwari, which has been operational for the last two years, to assess the quality of healthcare arrangements for the Yatris. After touring the wards, laboratories, and emergency units, and checking on the well-being of patients, he highly appreciated the dedication of the doctors, paramedics, and healthcare workers deployed at the station. Officials briefed the Lieutenant Governor that the facility maintains adequate stocks of medicines and essential medical equipment, with specialist doctors and nursing staff deployed to handle prompt treatments, managing an Outpatient Department (OPD) that averages 2,500 patient visits per day.

Speaking to media persons, the Lieutenant Governor noted a massive surge in pilgrim numbers this year compared to the past four years, prompting the Administration, the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, and key stakeholders to implement significantly better arrangements. However, noting a large influx of unregistered travelers, he strongly urged pilgrims without prior registration to remain patient and wait for their turn, reiterating that daily pilgrim caps at both Chandanwari and Baltal are strictly fixed and cannot be increased due to vital safety and protocol mandates.
