KISHTWAR, J&K, Feb 9, 2026 – The high-stakes anti-terrorist offensive, Operation Trashi-I, has entered its 20th consecutive day, with security forces achieving a major breakthrough by neutralizing one foreign terrorist.
The joint operation, conducted by the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police, remains focused on the dense forested terrain of the Chatroo belt, specifically targeting the Tainar and Dichhar areas of Kishtwar district.
The prolonged Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) saw a fresh exchange of fire on Day 20 after security personnel detected suspicious movement in the rugged heights.
This encounter is part of a sustained push to eliminate a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module that has been active in the region.
While one foreign militant has been confirmed killed, elite teams continue to comb the challenging topography for the remaining members of the group.
Security has been further tightened across the sector to ensure that no escape routes remain available for the hiding insurgents.
