Pulwama Police Crackdown on Narcotics: Two Arrested with Over 5kg of Contraband in MurranPULWAMA, February 01, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against the regional drug trade, the Pulwama Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of illicit substances in the village of Murran. During a routine “naka” (checkpoint) operation, a police party from the Pulwama Police Station intercepted two individuals acting suspiciously.
A subsequent search of their possession led to the discovery of approximately 5.671 kilograms of Charas choora-like substance, which was immediately seized by the authorities.The apprehended suspects have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Siraj-ud-Din Sheikh, and Aamir Ahmad Darzi, son of Ab Hamid Darzi, both residents of Murran. Following the seizure, the police registered FIR No. 15/2026 under Sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Officers have launched an intensive investigation to trace the supply chain, focusing on identifying the primary source of the narcotics and their intended distribution network.
