Indian Navy Stealth Frigate Tarkash Docks at Port Victoria to Boost Seychelles Maritime Security Partnership

PORT VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES — June 13, 2026:-The Indian Navy stealth frigate, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tarkash, successfully docked at Port Victoria, Seychelles, on June 12, 2026, as part of its ongoing operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region. During its long-distance transit, the advanced warship escorted the Seychelles Coast Guard Ship (SCGS) PS Zoroaster back home from India, where the vessel had just completed a comprehensive technical refit at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers facility in Kolkata. This joint journey highlights a deeply rooted maritime partnership in defense shipbuilding and sustainment, while simultaneously enhancing tactical interoperability between the two seafaring nations to counter shared security challenges across the region.

Throughout the high-profile port call, the Commanding Officer of INS Tarkash, Captain Rohit Mishra, is slated to meet with senior government dignitaries and top officials from the Seychelles Defence Forces to review mutual security protocols. The crew will also participate in several scheduled cultural and social engagements aimed at fostering goodwill with the local community. Additionally, the Indian Navy will officially hand over critical mechanical spares and essential defense stores to the Government of Seychelles, a logistical delivery designed to enhance the island nation’s coastal monitoring capabilities, deepen bilateral camaraderie, and reinforce India’s commitment to regional maritime safety.
