Heavy Snowfall Hits Ganderbal; BRO Intensifies Clearance on Zojila and SSG Roads

Ganderbal, Jan 27: As persistent snowfall continues to blanket parts of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has launched a massive snow-clearance operation to keep vital high-altitude arteries functional.

Efforts are currently focused on the strategic Srinagar–Sonamarg–Ganderbal (SSG) road and the treacherous Zojila Pass, where teams are working against the clock to prevent a total blockade of these essential lifelines.

The BRO has deployed sophisticated machinery and specialized personnel to mitigate heavy accumulation on the tracks, ensuring that traffic movement can be restored at the earliest opportunity. Despite the challenging weather conditions and limited visibility, the operation remains in full swing to maintain regional connectivity.

Meanwhile, local authorities have issued a safety warning, urging commuters to strictly adhere to official traffic advisories and postpone non-essential travel until the weather stabilizes and the roads are declared safe for passage.
