DM Jammu Imposes Two-Month Ban on Bovine Transportation

JAMMU | January 10, 2026:- In a decisive move to regulate livestock movement, District Magistrate Jammu Rakesh Minhas has issued a formal order banning the transportation of bovine animals from Jammu to other districts. Exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the directive prohibits the transit of cows, buffaloes, oxen, bulls, and calves across district lines. This restriction applies strictly unless the transporters have obtained prior written permission from the District Magistrate or the Additional District Magistrate of Jammu, subject to specific conditions outlined by the administration.The enforcement of this order is aimed at maintaining public order and monitoring livestock movement within the region. According to the official notification, the ban comes into effect immediately and will remain operational for a period of two months, or until it is formally rescinded by the authorities. Local law enforcement agencies have been briefed to ensure strict adherence to the new regulations, and any unauthorized movement of bovines during this window will be met with legal action under the provisions of the BNSS.
