J&K Minister Satish Sharma Holds Chhamb Public Outreach; Announces Major Sports Upgrade for Gole Gujral Stadium
JAMMU, JANUARY 04, 2026: In a major push toward grassroots development and youth empowerment, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, and Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, conducted an extensive public outreach programme in the Chhamb constituency today.
During the event, the Minister met with diverse public delegations and Panchayat representatives to address critical local issues ranging from rural infrastructure and drinking water supply to power connectivity and ration distribution. Demonstrating the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to transparent governance, Minister Sharma issued immediate sanctions under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for several projects on the spot, effectively cutting through red tape to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last household in border regions.
Later in the day, Minister Satish Sharma shifted focus to the region’s athletic potential by attending the final match of the T20 Cricket Tournament at Gole Gujral, organized to honor the martyrdom of the Chaar Sahibzaade. While paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzaades as an inspiration for righteousness and courage, the Minister announced a significant infrastructure overhaul for the Mini Sports Stadium at Gole Gujral.
The stadium is set to be transformed into a modern sporting hub, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including synthetic turf, a dedicated volleyball court, an upgraded cricket pitch, and high-tech solar lighting. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision to foster a healthy and empowered generation by providing local athletes with the professional-grade resources needed to compete at national and international levels.
