SRINAGAR, Jan 2, 2026 — Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has expressed profound concern over a devastating fire that swept through Tachna village in the Dachhan area of Kishtwar late Thursday night.
In a statement released via the Office of the Chief Minister on X (formerly Twitter), the CM shared his deep distress over the widespread destruction of residential structures and the resulting displacement of numerous families.

The Chief Minister’s communiqué emphasized the need for a swift and comprehensive response. He has officially tasked the Kishtwar district administration with ensuring the immediate delivery of relief materials, including temporary shelter and essential supplies, to the families who lost their homes.
Furthermore, the CM has ordered a detailed and rapid assessment of the property and livestock losses to facilitate a structured compensation and assistance package.
