Udhampur Police Crack Down on Narcotics: Hardcore Drug Peddler Arrested with Heroin at Tikri

Udhampur January 01, 2026:- In a continuous effort to eradicate the drug menace from the district, the Udhampur Police apprehended a hardcore drug peddler during a routine security check at Tikri.

A police team stationed at the Tikri Naka point observed a suspicious individual traveling on foot from the Manthal area. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspect attempted to flee the scene but was quickly intercepted and detained by the alert “naka” party.

The individual was subsequently identified as Sunny Kumar, son of Des Raj and a resident of Omara Morh, PTC, Udhampur.During a formal personal search of the suspect, police officers recovered 5.30 grams of heroin from his possession.

Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 02/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Rehambal Police Station.

The accused is currently in police custody as investigators work to trace the backward and forward linkages of the drug supply chain. Udhampur Police reaffirmed their “zero-tolerance” policy against narcotics trafficking and appealed to the general public to share any information that could help in making the district entirely drug-free.
