Kulgam January 01, 2026 :- The Kulgam Police has successfully cracked a theft case within 24 hours, arresting a woman accused of pickpocketing at a local healthcare facility.
The incident came to light on December 31, 2025, when a woman lodged a formal complaint at Police Station Kulgam, stating that ₹20,200 in cash had been stolen from her pocket while she was tending to a patient at District Hospital Kulgam.
In response, authorities immediately registered a case under FIR No. 143/2025 and launched a swift investigation to identify the culprit operating within the hospital premises.
Using a combination of technical surveillance and local intelligence, investigators zeroed in on a suspect identified as Roomi Jan, wife of Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh and a resident of Sheikh Mohalla Damhal Hanjipora.
During the subsequent interrogation, the accused confessed to her involvement in the crime. Police officers managed to recover the entire stolen amount of ₹20,200 from her possession.
While the primary theft has been solved, Kulgam Police stated that further investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused is linked to other similar incidents in the region.
