Jammu Paddy Procurement Hits Record High in 2025-26 Season with ₹106 Crore Paid to Farmers
JAMMU, DECEMBER 21: The Jammu region has achieved a historic milestone in paddy procurement during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26, with collections reaching an all-time high of 4.47 lakh quintals to date.
This record-breaking volume surpasses the previous peak of 4.05 lakh quintals recorded in 2021–22 and significantly exceeds the current season’s target of 3.50 lakh quintals. The surge in procurement is backed by a robust Minimum Support Price (MSP) mechanism, where Grade ‘A’ paddy is priced at ₹2,389 per quintal and Common paddy at ₹2,369 per quintal. Consequently, the government has disbursed ₹106.48 crore directly to 6,130 farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), averaging a payment of ₹1.73 lakh per farmer.
This success is further reflected in farmer participation, with registrations hitting a record 11,182. Director of Agriculture Jammu, Sh. Anil Gupta, attributed this achievement to the seamless operation of 24 mandis and the dedicated efforts of field functionaries who enhanced awareness at the grassroots level.
With procurement operations continuing until December 31, the region’s agricultural sector continues to show a strong upward trend in transparency, farmer trust, and overall productivity.
