JAMMU, December 21, 2025 — In a major move to bolster public safety and emergency coordination, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti-IPS, conducted a high-level review of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) during his visit to the District Police Lines (DPL) and District Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu.
The visit focused on the transition to ERSS 2.0, an advanced iteration of the national “One Emergency, One Number” initiative, designed to significantly reduce response times through technological optimization.
During the session at the DPL Conference Hall, the IGP emphasized that the system’s success relies on the seamless integration of its four core pillars: the Emergency Caller Interface, Dispatcher, Field Responder, and Supervisor.
A central theme of the review was the implementation of cutting-edge tracking technologies, including GPS-based vehicle location tracking, Location Based Services (LBS), and Emergency Location Services (ELS). IGP Tuti stressed that the goal is not only to improve physical on-ground response but also to refine “response time on paper” by leveraging automated, technology-driven processes.
By ensuring accurate location data and real-time coordination, the Jammu Police aim to enhance accountability and public trust. The IGP also inspected the physical infrastructure at the District PCR, identifying critical requirements for manpower, specialized emergency response vehicles, and technical equipment necessary for the full operationalization of the system.
The meeting saw participation from top brass, including DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma-IPS and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh-JKPS, alongside technical teams and nodal officers.
Addressing the officers, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti reiterated that ERSS-112 is a vital citizen-centric service where every second counts. He directed the concerned teams to bridge existing gaps in logistics and manpower immediately to ensure that ERSS 2.0 becomes a benchmark for emergency services in the region, providing a faster and more reliable lifeline to citizens in distress.
