Mizoram Border Smuggling Crackdown: Assam Rifles Seizes Drugs and Contraband Worth Over Rs 14 Crore

AIZAWL, July 31 — Assam Rifles under SpearCorps continued its relentless crackdown against cross-border smuggling by executing two successful joint operations across Mizoram, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods and narcotics valued at over Rs 14 crore.

In the first operation at Vairengte in Kolasib district, security forces teamed up with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence to recover a massive stash of poppy seeds and dry areca nuts. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 4.10 crore in the market.Meanwhile, a separate joint operation carried out with the Mizoram Police at Muallungthu in Aizawl district led to a major drug bust.

Troops intercepted and seized Methamphetamine tablets valued at around Rs 10.845 crore, while also apprehending two individuals in connection with the illegal trade. Both operations underscore the ongoing efforts of security agencies to fortify border security and disrupt illicit trafficking networks in the region.
