Jammu and Kashmir Weather Forecast and Rainfall Alert

Srinagar, May 9, 2026:- The meteorological department in Srinagar has issued a weather update indicating a shift from dry conditions to active rainfall and thundershowers across the region over the coming days.

While today remains generally dry, the weather is expected to change by Sunday evening, May 10, bringing brief showers to a few areas during the night.A significant weather system is forecasted to impact Jammu and Kashmir between May 11 and May 13.

During this period, the sky will remain generally cloudy with many places experiencing light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Some areas may also face hailstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Consequently, day temperatures are expected to drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius across various locations.

Following this active spell, the weather from May 14 to May 16 is predicted to be partly to generally cloudy. Another light spell of rain and thundershowers is anticipated at scattered places on May 17 and 18.

In light of the forecasted hailstorms and strong winds, authorities have advised farmers to complete their essential farm operations by May 10 to avoid potential damage to crops.
